| How reseller accounts work
How do customers sign up for web hosting from my site?
Customers who come to your site click a link that sends them to our branded (or "private label")
site. The customer sees your logo and a generic URL in the address bar. Upon signing up,
their account is added to the system as a "subaccount" of yours. When the user logs out,
they are sent back to your home page.
Here is a diagram of the process (click the image for a larger version).
How do customers manage their web service from my site?
Existing customers who have signed up by the above process can manage their hosting
services, register domain names, set up email accounts, etc. by logging into the
branded control panel. When the customer logs out they are sent back to your
home page.
Here is a diagram of the process (click the image for a larger version).
How are subaccounts related to my account?
Each of your customers will have a "subaccount" in our system. A subaccount
is really no different than a regular account except you have control over
them. Each subaccount has its own login ID & password, generic URL,
domain name(s), and billing information. Subaccounts belong to your master
reseller account. Commissions generated go
directly to your reseller account balance. Subaccounts can be searched on
and viewed from your reseller control panel. Automated emails sent out by
our system to your subaccounts are sent "from" an email address you specify,
and have your company name placed in them.
This example shows a reseller account with the login ID "joeshosting", with
four subaccounts. Three of these subaccounts were opened by customers and
have credit card information ("retail" subaccounts). One of the subaccounts
was opened directly by the reseller. Its billing mode is set to "Bill Parent"
as the reseller will be handling billing for this account directly (if at all).
Note that subaccounts may be provisioned on any available web server by an automated process.
You do not have to purchase additional space or keep track of your subaccounts'
total usage. You can just keep signing up customers and we will take
care of the backend.
How do I earn commissions?
You earn commissions when customers click to the branded signup page from
your site, create an account, and sign up for services. We charge the
user and calculate your commission based on the retail price charged and
your cost. Commissions take 30 days to post to your account balance.
If the transaction has a chargeback (the transaction is disputed by the
cardholder, for example because of fraud) the transaction is invalidated
and no commissions are generated.
In the example below the reseller's cost is $9.95 per web hosting account.
They selected their retail price to be $12.00. When a customer signs up,
this is how the commission is calculated: (Note: Commissions will continue
to be generated each month we bill the user for service, until they
cancel the account.)
How do I pay for "Bill Parent" accounts?
If you do not want us to bill your customer's credit card, and instead
want to set up their services yourself you can create subaccounts
through your reseller control panel. You will have the option to
specify "Bill Parent" as the billing method. In this case, we bill your
wholesale cost (not your retail price) to your reseller balance. We
send confirmation emails to you instead of the end user. We send
billing warnings (i.e. balance too low) to you instead of the end
user. We also prevent the end user from signing up for extra
services, registering domain names, or anything else that would
cost money. Only the parent reseller account has access to sign up
"Bill Parent" accounts for services.
In the example below, a subaccount with the "Bill Parent" billing
type signs up for web hosting. The $9.95 fee is charged directly
to the parent account's balance.
